Youth Survey

Hey, guys...I'm conducting a survey to help us understand why students are walking away from the church. I'm particularly looking at students in grades 11 and 12 that have stopped attending their youth ministries. However, I think the short tenure of youth pastors certainly contributes to this dynamic. On the one hand, youth pastors tend to walk away for the next offer that seems a bit better. But I can't say that I blame them. Church often underpay and often fail to cover even the basics like Health insurance.
If churches would step up and take care of their staff, this would certainly help.; ▶ Reply to This

I believe you are right that youth pastor tenure does contribute to this issue. In fact, Brandon Shields recently completed a dissertation that looked at churches with healthy youth ministries. He found that some of the troubling drop out statistics didn't follow in these churches. Interestingly, all of these churches had youth ministers that had been at their church for over 4 years.
