Lasting Divergence

That the next generation might know. Psalm 78:6

Each year we invite the parents of our 7th graders to journal to their children and then present this journal to their children on their passage trip. Many of our parents have mentioned through the years that this experience has made an impact on them and their children.

Here is what I wrote in Tyler's journal on Friday:

June 12th,

You can tell a lot about people from the words they write. For example, David wrote much about his high view of God throughout the Psalms. If you read through his writings you can't help but notice as he spoke of a great, holy, and wonderful God. Over and over you see David's heart revealed in his writings. It was as if he couldn't help but reveal what and who he was deep within his heart.

Recently you have written two songs. Both of these songs speak much of you love for Christ and your desire that the nations know him. You could have written a song about baseball, life, family, or anything else but powerful words spilled out of your heart, down your arms, through your pen and then to paper. These words reflect so much about you and a high view of our Lord.

I want you to know that I am inspired by your words and more importantly the fact that your life backs up the message.
